Measuring To Fit Inside The Recess (L Frame)

  1. Gather the necessary tools: You will need a measuring tape, a pencil, and a notepad or paper to record your measurements.

  2. Start by measuring the width: Measure the width of the window outside recess at the top, middle, and bottom. Take the narrowest measurement as the width of the blinds. Make sure to measure from wall to wall from the inside edges of the recess.

  3. Next, measure the drop: Measure the height of the window recess on the left, centre, and right sides. Again, take the shortest measurement as the drop of the blinds. Measure from the top of the recess to the bottom.

  4. Consider any obstructions: Take note of any obstructions within the recess, such as window handles or locks. Measure the distance from the obstruction to the nearest edge of the recess.

  5. Double-check your measurements: It's always a good idea to double-check your measurements to ensure accuracy. Take the width and drop measurements again to make sure they are consistent.

  6. Order your blinds: Once you have your accurate measurements, you can order your shutters. When purchasing, provide the measurements as width x drop, and specify you want a L Frame so it will sit inside of the recess. If you want an outside recess fitting see the guide below for the Z Frame.

Remember, it's important to measure accurately to ensure the blinds fit properly within the recess. If you're unsure or have any doubts, we recommend to email us or contact us via telephone to speak to one of our advisors.

Measuring To Fit On The Reveal (Z Frame)

  1. Gather the necessary tools: You will need a measuring tape, a pencil, and a notepad or paper to record your measurements.

  2. Measure the width: Measure the width of the window frame or the area you want the blinds to cover.

  3. Measure the drop: Measure the height from the top of the window frame to the desired length for the blinds.

  4. Consider any obstructions: Take note of any obstructions such as handles, locks, or moulding around the window frame. Ensure that you leave enough space to clear these obstructions when measuring the size of the blinds. Usually for Z Frame fitting you do not have to worry about window handles, unless your recess is small.

  5. Double-check your measurements: It's crucial to double-check your measurements to ensure accuracy. Take the width and drop measurements again to confirm that they are consistent.

  6. Order your blinds: Once you have your accurate measurements, you can proceed to order your blinds. Provide the measurements as width x drop and specify that you want an outside mount also known as a Bullnose Z Frame. Your Shutters will sit perfectly on the reveal of your window.

Ensure that you measure the area accurately and consider any desired overlaps or clearances. If you're unsure or have any doubts, it's advisable to consult with a professional or reach out to the blind manufacturer for guidance.
